India had just 1423 global patents in 2015. In stark contrast, even a country like South Korea fared 10 times better with 14,626 patents.
Wannawill Inventorium is our humble attempt at changing things, one patent at a time. We are a collaboratory of like-minded creative people who think it's possible to channelise our inner-jugaad to make up novel, new, innovative products that can make our boring lives, a little less boring.

INVENTIONS
At Wannawill Inventorium, we've begun our journey of invention, with the design of the deep grooved SHELL IDLI plate. It's a tiny breakthrough in a category that hasn't seen much innovation in the last 1000 years.
The non-stick Teflon coated plate with its grooves modeled after the 'scallop shell' lets anyone whip up aesthetically pleasing and beautiful looking idlis of all hues.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES WANNAWILL DO?
Like we said, we are an inventorium. We are primarily into inventing products for the consumer space. If we see the need gap for a new product in a category, we invent a relevant product and patent it. Then we develop the prototype, branding elements, packaging and promo videos. Once we're ready with this, we approach companies that are capable of realising the market potential of the product. If there's a fit, we transfer the product to them.

DO YOU MANUFACTURE THE PRODUCTS YOU INVENT?
No, we don't. We are an 'Invent, Operate, Transfer' company. We develop the product prototype, figure out the manufacturing, create the branding elements and then we scout for a suitable company that can manufacture and market our products.

DO YOU LICENSE YOUR PRODUCTS FOR MANUFACTURING?
Oh yes, we do. That's our core business model. We patent our products and then we license it to one or more players in the category depending upon the market potential. Ideally, the licensee should have prior experience in manufacturing, marketing and distribution.

HOW DOES ONE COLLABORATE WITH WANNAWILL?
There is no invention ecosystem in India. It has to built from scratch. There are just some very driven islands of excellence. And lots of unused talent in different parts of the country. Wannawill will act as a bridge to connect all the relevant skilled individuals necessary to come up with a workable, patentable design or idea. To specifically collaborate with you, we need to know the skill you bring to the table. The best way to showcase what you've got is to shoot us a mail with a few samples of your work. And also an indication of your many years of experience as an engineer, graphic designer, CAD technician, 3D Printer, machinist, manufacturer or investor.

WHAT DOES WANNAWILL MEAN?
Wannawill is an invented word. It's derived from 'Wanna' and 'Will'. Our name is indicative of what we do. We bridge the 'Wanna make it happen' with the 'Will make it happen'. The sound of 'Wannawill' is identical with the Tamil word 'Vaanavil' which means 'the rainbow'. Since our inventions straddle multiple categories, the many hues of the rainbow is an apt metaphor for us.
